Beef and Sheep at Monmouthshire show – See the best – come to your local show
The cattle lines, including 120 entries at the Monmouthshire Show are one of the highlights for many visitors.
This after all, is part of a traditional agricultural show, making a great day out for all the family.
The cattle themselves are highly impressive with some weighing over a ton and to see how well they are cared for and the amount of work that goes into that bringing them to the show ring is quite something to behold!
Many different cattle breeds are represented, including, the local Hereford and the small Dexters. As well as beef cattle there are also class entries from dairy herds.
The sheep section, has over 600 entries this year.
We see sheep, dotted around the countryside. Come and see them in their finery and speak to the people who look after them. 20 different breed are on show from Suffolk to British Charollais.
There are young handlers classes for beef and sheep breeds, with children as young as 6 years old showing livestock-budding young farmers of the future!
At 3.30pm, in the main ring, all beef and sheep classes gather together in an impressive grand parade for prize winners. A sight worth seeing, which will show you the best there is of British Livestock.
