Stewards & Volunteers
The Monmouthshire Show relies entirely on a large number of dedicated volunteers to ensure the smooth set up and running of the Show. Join the team involved in helping make the Monmouthshire Show the biggest one day show in Wales.
Opportunities are available in all areas for volunteers to offer much needed assistance. Meet new people, feel valued and have fun by donating your time for just one day a year – the first Saturday in July – or more if you are able to.
Where do your talents and interests lie? Are you fit and strong enough to be able to erect show jumps or careful and detailed enough to record results? There is something to suit anyone prepared to try something different.
Responsible volunteers are needed to help with: site preparation and dismantling, horse, cattle and sheep sections, traffic and parking, pedestrian management and erecting show jumps…the list is endless.
All volunteers who help for more than 4 hours receive a steward’s pack containing their admission pass, car parking pass and a luncheon voucher which entitles them to lunch in the Members Marquee.
Many of our stewards have been involved with the show for decades. Mr Brian Farr and Mr Bruce Tranter were unanimously elected as honorary life members of the Society during the AGM on 3rd March 2008 in recognition of 50 years service as stewards in the cattle section of the Monmouthshire Show.
Both gentlemen started their stewarding days as fresh faced 17 year olds and are still part of the backbone of volunteers so invaluable to the Show.
